Answering the Call – Commonwealth Nurses in the NHS

Drawings by Denis Reed
I Am Worthy
A creative exploration of self-injury through time
The exhibition brings together voices from the past and present to reflect on how self-injury has been seen, experienced and understood.
Inspired by characters from early modern plays and shaped by real life experiences today, I Am Worthy invites you into a shared space of empathy, challenge and reflection.
I Am Worthy will be on display at Glenside Hospital Museum from Saturday 17th May until Wednesday 10th September 2025. The exhibition is included in the normal museum entry fee.

About the charity
Curated by Bristol charity Self Injury Support
Started in 1986 as a feminist collective, Bristol Crisis Service for Women grew into a national charity in the 1990s. Its non-judgmental, non-directive peer-led helpline helped thousands of women feel heard and held in times of crisis. Its groundbreaking research and training helped change how women using self injury were viewed and supported, not just in Bristol but across the UK.
In 2014 Bristol Crisis Service for Women changed its name to Self Injury Support to better reflect its purpose...and they’re still going strong.

"If you have never been to Glenside Hospital Museum, it is a wonderful museum. It is not gloomy or depressing but fascinating and hopeful. A really progressive institution."
