Drawing Classes - An amazing opportunity to put pen to paper in the fascinating museum of the former Bristol Lunatic Asylum, led by a qualified teacher.
An amazing opportunity to put pen to paper in the fascinating museum of the former Bristol Lunatic Asylum, led by a qualified teacher. Following the success of our the drawing class in February we have asked Caroline Pringle to return to the museum for two more occasions to run the class.
A Sunday afternoon class, June 11th 1.45pm – 5pm and a Monday evening class, June 12th 5.45pm – 9pm. You are welcome to come to both.
Study the techniques used by Denis Reed artist and patient in the 1950s to gain an insight into composition, use of wash and spot colour. Explore the eclectic collection at the Museum to develop your own drawing style and capture your experience of the day.
You will be looking at behind the scenes museum exhibits and also the building: a beautiful 1881 church. The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with experience. Caroline will lead the session and be on hand to give you tips. She has taught drawing in all media for many years. Recently specialising in first hand and urban sketching, leading students to respond quickly and expressively to figures, buildings and everything associated with the environment they are in.
This session is aimed to enable you to successfully refine your sketching focus by using wash and brush pens, over minimal pencil line to gain a quick but fully developed response to the scene. By doing on site sketching, you will develop your own way of recording and analysing what you are looking at.
Caroline Pringle graduated in Fine Art from Camberwell School of Art, London. She has been teaching art since 1985.
Cost £20.00 per person per session. All materials provided.
You are welcome to book to come on both sessions or just come to one.
